For the App Store in 2026, upload an iPhone 6.9″ set at 1320 × 2868 px (1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736 are also accepted); Apple scales it for smaller iPhones. iPad apps also need an iPad 13″ set at 2064 × 2752 px. 1 to 10 screenshots per display size, as JPEG or PNG with no transparency. At minimum you need one iPhone set (6.9″, or 6.5″ if you skip 6.9″) and, if the app runs on iPad, one 13″ iPad set. The old 6.7″ and 12.9″ sizes still upload: 1290 × 2796 is a 6.9″ size now, and 2048 × 2732 is a 13″ size.

The feature graphic (1024 × 500) is mandatory for every listing, even if you skip tablet screenshots. A preview video is a YouTube link, and only its first 30 seconds autoplay.
Common screenshot size mistakes
- Exporting with a transparent background. Both stores reject alpha channels, so flatten to RGB first.
- Designing at 1242 × 2688 only. That covers 6.5″, but the 6.9″ slot is what shows on the largest current iPhones.
- Putting small text near the edges of the 1024 × 500 feature graphic. Play shows it at different sizes, so keep text large and centred.
- Stretching an iPhone set to fit iPad. A 13″ set needs its own layout, or the screenshots look like a blown-up phone.
- Using fewer than 4 Play phone screenshots at 1080 px. The listing still publishes, but it is not eligible for promotion in recommendations.

What size are App Store screenshots in 2026?
Upload one iPhone 6.9" set at 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736 pixels (portrait). If you skip 6.9", a 6.5" set at 1284 × 2778 or 1242 × 2688 is required instead. Smaller iPhone sizes are scaled from what you upload. If your app runs on iPad, you also need a 13" set at 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732. Each size takes 1 to 10 screenshots.
Should I use 1320 × 2868 or 1290 × 2796 for the 6.9-inch slot?
Apple accepts both, plus 1260 × 2736. 1320 × 2868 is the native resolution of the iPhone 16 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max; 1290 × 2796 matches the iPhone 15 Pro Max and 16 Plus and was the old 6.7" size, which Apple has folded into 6.9". If you are starting fresh, design at 1320 × 2868 and keep the whole set at one size.
What size are Google Play screenshots?
Google Play phone screenshots are usually 1080 × 1920 pixels portrait (9:16) or 1920 × 1080 landscape. Each side must be between 320 and 3,840 px and the long side can be at most twice the short side. You need 2 to 8 phone screenshots, plus a required 1024 × 500 feature graphic and a 512 × 512 icon.
What is the Google Play feature graphic size?
1024 × 500 pixels, as a JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no transparency. It is required for every listing and appears at the top of the store page and in Play's promotional placements, so keep text large and away from the edges.
Do I need screenshots for every iPhone size?
No. You need a 6.9" set (or a 6.5" set if you skip 6.9"), and App Store Connect scales it for the smaller iPhones. Upload dedicated 6.3", 6.1" or 5.5" screenshots only if you want pixel-exact control on those displays.
Portrait or landscape?
Most apps use portrait, since that is how people hold their phones and browse the stores. Use landscape if your app is landscape-first, such as many games. Both stores accept either orientation at the sizes listed above.
What format should screenshots be?
Apple accepts JPEG or PNG with no alpha channel or transparency. Google Play accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG, also with no alpha. Export flattened RGB images and both stores will take them.
