An ASO score measures how well an app's store listing follows the practices that drive search ranking and installs. ReachFront's ASO Score fetches your live App Store or Google Play listing, runs around 30 checks weighted by impact across five categories (Metadata Optimization, Keyword Strategy, Conversion Quality, Readability & Brand Voice, and Trust Signals), and returns a 0 to 100 score with an A+ to F grade. Every check says whether it passed and why, failing checks come first, and the detailed report adds a recommended fix written for your listing.
From store URL to fix list in three steps
What does an ASO score measure?
Your store listing does two jobs: it tells the store's search which queries to show you for, and it convinces a person to install. An ASO score checks both at once, against the practices known to matter: where your primary keyword sits, whether each field uses its space, how the description opens, and what your ratings say.
Not every check matters equally. A keyword missing from your title costs far more than an extra exclamation mark, so each check carries a weight and your score is the share of those points your listing earns. 90 and above is an A+, 80 an A, 70 a B, 60 a C, 50 a D, and anything lower an F.
The number is the start, not the point. Every check comes with a note about your listing, failing checks are listed first by what is at stake, and the detailed report adds a recommended fix for each one, so you know exactly what to change before you open App Store Connect or Play Console.
Auditing a listing by hand vs. with the ASO Score
| By hand | With the ASO Score | |
|---|---|---|
| Knowing what to check | Piece together ASO advice from blog posts and hope the checklist is complete. | Around 30 checks across five categories, run against your live listing. |
| Prioritizing | Treat every tip as equally important and start wherever. | Checks weighted by impact, with failing ones listed first by points at stake. |
| Both stores | Remember that Apple and Google index different fields. | Store-specific checks: the subtitle on the App Store, the short description on Google Play. |
| Deciding what to change | Turn generic advice into edits to your own copy yourself. | A recommended fix for each failing check, written for your listing. |
| Measuring progress | No clear way to tell whether a rewrite made the listing better. | Re-run the audit after a change and compare the score and grade with your past audits. |
What the ASO Score checks
Five categories, each made of weighted checks run against your live listing, plus the fixes that close the gaps.
Who the ASO Score is for
Anyone who wants to know what is wrong with a store listing, in order of what it costs, before rewriting it.
ASO Score at a glance
- The ASO Score runs around 30 checks in five categories: metadata, keyword strategy, conversion, readability and trust.
- Checks are weighted by impact, so a keyword missing from the title costs more than a cosmetic issue.
- Scores map to grades: 90 and above is A+, 80 A, 70 B, 60 C, 50 D, and below 50 F.
- The App Store and Google Play index different fields, so the audit checks the subtitle on iOS and the short description on Google Play.
ASO Score, answered
How is the score calculated?
Each check has a maximum number of points based on how much it affects ranking and conversion. Your score is the share of those points your listing earns, from 0 to 100, and the grade follows from it: A+ at 90 and above, A at 80, B at 70, C at 60, D at 50, and F below that.
Does it work for the App Store and Google Play?
Yes. Paste either kind of URL. The checks follow each store's fields: the subtitle on the App Store, the short description on Google Play.
Do I need to tell it my keyword?
No. You can enter the primary keyword you want to rank for to sharpen the keyword checks, or leave it out and the audit picks the primary keyword from your listing.
What is in the detailed report?
Every check scored, a recommended fix for each failing one, the category breakdown, character usage per field, a snapshot of the listing as the store shows it, your keyword profile, and the levers a public listing can't show, like conversion rate and review velocity. You can copy it as Markdown or download it as JSON.
